Why I Am Running for Congress
I am running for Texas Congressional District 21. One of the main reasons I have chosen to run is to help in building a better future for my children and grandchildren—indeed, a better future for all of us, throughout this nation. But not only a better future, I think we need a better now, too.
I believe Progressivism is both compassionate and practical. It is the necessary constant march of humanity. I want to say that again with a slightly different emphasis. Progressivism is not only compassionate, but it is also highly practical, and we need to help people learn this. It is a commonsense approach to a better economy, a better nation, and a better world.
I enter this race to do what I can to help unite us as a people; to unite us as a community of diverse people. To unite us on the things that make a better life for all.

"I believe a more united Congress can work together for all Americans, but it must be united on a philosophy that includes all Americans. It must include special emphasis on those who suffer the most, and those who are always on the edge of financial ruin.
A less divided Congress will cease to be a do-nothing Congress. A less divided Congress could be the beginning of restoring faith in our democracy and in government itself, particularly Congress. We, the people, are supposed to be the government. So, mistrust in the government is mistrust in ourselves. A less divided public can elect a less-divided government."

Social SecurityWe must save Social Security and make it better than ever. It is the quickest, easiest thing that the next Congress can do to immediately help everyone in the country. I have strong reasons for believing that it does truly help everyone. The younger you are, the more important this issue should be to you. Learn More

HealthcareWe must begin the hard work of transforming our healthcare system into an affordable, quality healthcare system for all. We need to make the transformation smooth and make sure no one loses their livelihood due to the transformation. But every American should be covered fully, and it should not depend on whether a person’s particular employer can afford to provide benefits or not. Learn More

EducationEducation must be a priority for America. Good public education is not a cost to society, it is a perpetual economic stimulus, in addition to being the noblest of all human endeavors. By fully funding public education we, as a national community, are purchasing a better world for us all. The education is not for the student alone; it is for everyone. We all benefit. Learn More
